Practice Schedule

As a general rule, this is the schedule for activities at the Golden Wind Zen Center. Please check our Calendar to verify activities for a particular week.

Sunday mornings (8:30-11:30)
Chanting 8:30-9:30 / Dharma Talk 9:30-10:00 /
Meditation 10:00-11:30.
Kong-an interviews with Zen Master Ji Bong (first Sunday of each month).
(Occasionally, we will go to lunch as a group.)

Tuesday evenings (6:30-7:30)
Meditation and Mindfulness practice with sangha members. No robes, chanting or zen talks. This is an informal practice of “just sitting”.

Thursday evenings (6:30-8:00)
Meditation, chanting, and Dharma talks by the guiding teachers or sangha members. (If you are new to the Center, an Introduction to Zen session is recommended first. If that is not practical, we will be happy to offer you a short orientation at 7:00.)

Every second Thursday of the month (6:00-6:30) “Introduction to Zen.”
We offer an introductory session to meditation and Zen practice. This is followed by our regular Thursday practice described above. More details about these sessions at our Meetup group, and on our calendar.

Weekday mornings (7:00-8:30)
Seated meditation (for visitors who have already attended an Introduction to Zen session, or weekend group practice). No chanting or Dharma talk.

Please wear comfortable clothing such as T-shirts, loose-fitting long pants and socks. Shoes are not permitted in the Dharma room. In cooler weather, you might also bring a sweater. Muted tones are preferred.

On any day, visitors may enter or exit practice at any time. We are a community of lay people, so we need to do what works in the schedules of our daily lives!
