The relationship between teacher and student is at the core of Zen practice. Our Guiding Teacher is Zen Master Ji Bong (Robert Moore), who studied for many years with our Founding Teacher, Zen Master Seung Sahn. Ji Bong received Dharma transmission from Seung Sahn in 1997 at the Temple of the Kwan Um School of Zen in Providence, RI. Ji Bong taught for many years in the Kwan Um School before establishing the Golden Wind Zen Order. Our teachers have many years of experience in guiding students in meditation and Zen practice.

Zen groups and schools trace a line of teachers back into the past. Zen practice began with the historical Buddha in India, and developed over several centuries into Chinese Ch’an, Japanese Zen, and Korean Soen. The inspiration for the Golden Wind tradition was the Korean Zen Master Seung Sahn, who came to the United States in the 1970s and began teaching in New England.
